PI GST and E-Invoice

This page explains the GST compliance features on Purchase Invoices in PayInvoice Next.

GST Fields on Purchase Invoice

When you create a Purchase Invoice, the following GST fields are automatically populated:

FieldHow It Is Set
Company GSTINAuto-filled from your company record
Supplier GSTINAuto-filled from the supplier master
Place of SupplyDetermined from supplier address. Controls In-State vs Out-of-State GST.
Is Reverse ChargeSet based on the supplier's tax category
GST CategoryDetermined from supplier master (Registered, Unregistered, Overseas, etc.)

Tax Calculation

GST is calculated automatically based on:

  1. The Purchase Taxes and Charges Template you select (In-State GST or Out-of-State GST)
  2. The HSN/SAC Code on each item
  3. The applicable GST rate for that HSN code

TIP

If GST amounts do not match the supplier's invoice, check the HSN code on the item and the tax template selected. Mismatched HSN codes are the most common cause of GST discrepancies.

E-Invoice Verification

For suppliers who are required to generate e-invoices, PayInvoice Next can verify the IRN (Invoice Reference Number):

  • The E-Invoice Applicable field indicates whether this supplier must generate e-invoices.
  • If the supplier has generated an IRN, it can be recorded in the IRN field on the invoice.
  • E-invoice QR codes can be validated for authenticity.

Input Service Distribution (ISD)

If your company operates as an Input Service Distributor:

  1. Enable the ISD checkbox on the Purchase Invoice.
  2. The ISD State table appears, allowing you to distribute the input tax credit across multiple states.
  3. ISD distribution follows the rules configured in your TaxGenie Compliance Engine settings.

TDS (Tax Deducted at Source)

If the supplier is subject to TDS:

  • TDS is automatically calculated based on the Supplier Tax Withholding Category.
  • The TDS amount is deducted from the payable amount.
  • TDS entries are created for filing purposes.
